Playground equipment, Indoor, and Outdoor

PlaygroundConsult.com is here to provide information on playground equipment for many commercial and residential applications. We are not affiliated with any single playground equipment company. It is our goal to simply supply visitors to our site with all the information they need to make the best playground decisions for the home, daycare, park or school.

Although the children of today have a wide range of options available when it comes to playing, there will always be a place for physical activity. Many of the different items found within playgrounds help children with physical coordination, strength, and flexibility. On top of that, the act of playing teaches children the important social skills that they will need later in life.

Of course, most people will agree that playgrounds now seem to be in direct competition with other forms of entertainment. For example, if a child does not want to play on playground equipment, he or she has the options of going to the movies, watching television or a DVD, playing video games, and surfing the Internet among other potential activities.
Just 20 years ago, there was really not much competition at all for playground play. Although the competing options are formidable, that does not mean that playgrounds cannot compete with these other things. All children really need is to be provided with new and improved playgrounds instead of being asked to settle for older style playgrounds which may not offer as much enjoyment.

But the good news is that just as everything else has been affected by technology, so have playgrounds and the equipment that you can find in them. Different staples of the playground environment have been drastically improved, including merry-go-rounds, swing sets, slides, overhead ladders, jungle gyms, monkey bars, sandboxes, trapeze rings and see-saws.
A recent change which designers and manufacturers of playgrounds have done is to incorporate several things that kids love into one entity. This means instead of having a swing set in one place, a slide in another place and monkey bars in another place, all of these different items are now being combined into one piece of equipment. There are advantages and disadvantages associated with this.

One of the advantages is that it is easier for parents or teachers to keep an eye on any children that they are watching because they are all playing in the same area.
However, a disadvantage is that the cost of putting together a fun play area can be harder to manage. For example, if you only had a couple hundred dollars, in the past this would have been enough for you to buy a slide set or monkey bars or swings. Then, when you got more money, you could buy another piece of the playground set.
Now, things tend to operate in an all or nothing manner. You often need to have the full amount for all the equipment because the individual parts cannot be purchased separately. If you have the money, this is fine, but if you do not it can present problems.

Likewise, there could be some problems when it comes to having the right amount of space. Whereas older playground equipment could be staggered at different places in the yard or park to make the best use of the area, newer equipment often needs one big area to be placed. This means that if you have an oddly shaped play area due to a tree or a garden or corners of the home, there is a possibility that you will not be able to fit the equipment you desire into that space.
The good news is that there are now so many different options available, you are likely to find something that suits your needs if you look carefully. The goal of this site is to assist people like you in finding just the right playground equipment that they require.
